Teacher's Statement

My approach to vocal training is based on learning to sing with a healthy, natural voice. This is achieved through cognitive and physical awareness, and is based on a solid foundation of musical knowledge and vocal technique.

I strive to lead my students toward their own personal goals, to help them find the pleasure of being creative and artistic through singing, and to share in the joy of learning and bettering ourselves.

Objectives include:

  • Learning correct breath management and posture, as well as how the voice works
  • Developing tone, pitch, intonation and general voice quality
  • Improving vocal range, agility and stamina
  • Locating and releasing tension and bad singing habits
  • Cultivating a healthy physical, emotional and technical capacity for a lifetime of happy, healthy singing

Each voice lesson is tailored to the student’s own goals, musical development and technical progress. We will use exercises to warm up the voice and mind, as well as vocalises and games to increase awareness. Time will be spent on song selections of the student’s choice and will include practical, interactive, supportive coaching to improve performance skills and assist the student's development as a singer.
