Studio Policies

Scheduling and Rates

Lessons are available in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute time slots and can be scheduled weekly at established times in the evenings. Weekend lessons may also be scheduled when necessary.

Cancellations and Missed Lessons

If you need to cancel a lesson, you must notify me at least two hours before your scheduled lesson time.

If no notice (or late notice) is given, you may be charged the full rate for the missed lesson. If payment for the missed lesson is not made, additional lessons will not be scheduled until payment is received. This may also result in you losing your time slot. Personal and family emergencies are, of course, the exception.

Suggestions

Be prepared. I suggest you arrive at your lessons knowing your assigned music. This doesn’t mean is has to be perfect, but using your lesson time to have me teach you all of the notes is a waste of your time and money. Also, be sure to bring the following to each lesson:
(1) Any music you would like to study. I also have a selection of music to choose from and am happy to make suggestions.
(2) A notebook and pencil to keep track of your assignments. A three-ring binder is suggested as a convenient way to organize your music and handouts.

Practice daily. Recommended daily practice time is a minimum of 20 minutes, but no more than 90 minutes. This does not include time spent on musical preparation (diction, translation, etc.).

Memorize. The sooner you memorize your music, the better. It is much easier for you to concentrate on improving your technique if you aren’t worried about notes and words.

Dress comfortably. You should be able to breathe and move easily in your attire.

Arrive on time. Please be prompt.

Enjoy yourself! Singing is fun and lessons should be enjoyable...for both of us!
